The average export price for ginger, saffron, tumeric (curcuma), thyme, bay leaves, curry and other spiceses stood at $1,243 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 10% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a noticeable shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when the average export price increased by 100% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $3,319 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was India ($2,130 per ton), while the average price for exports to Kenya ($646 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Uganda (+24.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price peaked at $4,010 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kenya ($7,522 per ton), while the price for India ($303 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+11.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

As a result, imports attained the peak of 791 tons, and then shrank significantly in the following year.
