Vanilla Price in Hungary (FOB) - 2022
The average vanilla export price stood at $213,221 per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -16.1% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average export price increased by 794% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $256,535 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Croatia ($409,755 per ton), while the average price for exports to Saudi Arabia ($2,990 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Finland (+110.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Vanilla Price in Hungary (CIF) - 2022
The average vanilla import price stood at $70,221 per ton in 2022, waning by -58.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed strong growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the average import price increased by 172% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $169,145 per ton, and then declined notably in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($150,897 per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($18,928 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+13.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Vanilla Exports in Hungary
Vanilla exports from Hungary reduced sharply to 2.9 tons in 2022, shrinking by -21.7% against the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, exports recorded a precipitous decline. The smallest decline of -0.7% was in 2020.
In value terms, vanilla exports dropped notably to $613K in 2022. In general, exports, however, saw a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 297%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $933K, and then reduced sharply in the following year.
